This week’s free plugin of the week is the Roughrider Compressor from Audio Damage. It may be over a decade old, the RE may still be listed at full price but you can now pick this up from Audio Damage as a VST for free. The supermarket shelves may be empty but your rack can be full!
With over half a million downloads from the Audio Damage website, I think that it’s fair to say that this VST has been used in a lot of music over the years.
RoughRider Compressor By Audio Damage:
Touted as a modern compressor with a vintage and warm sound, it handles most standard compression tasks but was most famous for it’s drum destruction capabilities. It also did ‘in the plugin’ parallel compression long before many of us knew what that was.

Since the RE was added to the Rack Extensions shop, the VST has gone through a couple of version upgrades. As it’s free, it is definitely worth picking up. RoughRider 3 is available in the following formats;
